Spalted Beech wood double live edge coffee table
If you are looking for a one-off statement, handmade table for your living room, conservatory, bedroom or dining room, then this would be a fabulous choice.
This is made from Spalted beech. It is a type of timber that has been affected by a process called spalting, which is when fungi grow on trees and leave a distinctive pattern. The process can take a couple of years to reach the ideal stage for cutting and seasoning the wood.
This slab of spalted beech has an incredible figuring in the spalting. The wood has been carefully prepared, with the various voids and splits filled with clear resin, allowing the timber itself to make a powerful statement. The table has been sanded to a high grit, and finished with Odie's oil, which resists stains, moisture, and water as well as wine, oil, grease, saliva, and juice etc, making the surface irresistable to touch.
This table top measures approximately 90cm x 50cm (at the widest point) and has been set on simple black metal pin legs, again to keep the focus on the wood itself.
